Most Underrated Isekai Anime You Might Have Missed Out

Hey everyone! Let’s be real, as an isekai anime junkie, I wade through a lot of generic trash to find the real gems. It’s my passion, and honestly, nothing beats the feeling of finding an underrated series that just clicks.

So, I’ve put together my personal list of isekai that I believe have leveled up drastically and deserve so much more love. Also, please note that this anime list doesn’t include the most popular and exciting isekai anime that you might already know of – may be some! It includes the most less-talked, and often ignored isekai anime. Get ready to update your watch list!

1. Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers

Brief Oerview:

I’m starting with something simple but so much fun. We follow a guy who seems weak but hits the jackpot at Level 2, unlocking ridiculously overpowered cheat skills.

Why I Personally Love It:

I’ll be honest, it’s predictable, but in the best way possible! It’s my go-to when I just want to turn my brain off and enjoy a power fantasy. The real highlight for me, though, is the big white wolf that becomes his companion. Why? Because she can turn into a hot anime waifu, and that’s where the show’s fantastic fan service comes in. It’s a straightforward, enjoyable ride.

2. Otaku Elf

Brief Oerview:

This one flips the script! It’s a reverse isekai where an elf is summoned to our world—specifically, a shrine in Japan—and completely falls in love with otaku culture.

Why I Personally Love It:

I find this show absolutely hilarious. As a bit of an otaku myself, I love watching this elf completely abandon her majestic origins to become a game-playing, snack-eating, toy-collecting shut-in. The dynamic is gold; she just lazes around while a poor 16-year-old shrine maiden does all the work. The comedy comes from trying to get this elf to actually interact with the world instead of becoming a total NEET.

3. The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash

Brief Oerview:

This one truly tugs at my heartstrings. It’s about a young girl born without a “star,” making her an outcast. Her own family disowns her, and she’s left to survive in the wilderness by scavenging through trash.

Why I Personally Love It:

I’m a sucker for emotional stories, and this one is a beautiful, if sometimes heartbreaking, adventure. What I love most is her resilience. Her life changes when she meets this adorable, super-rare slime creature. Their bond is just pure and gives me the warm fuzzies, making her journey to find a place to belong so compelling to watch.

4. Headhunted to Another World

Brief Oerview:

Imagine being a bored salaryman, and then getting a new job offer… from the Demon Lord! That’s this show. The MC is summoned not to fight, but to work a corporate job in the demon army.

Why I Personally Love It:

As someone who loves unique twists on the genre, this one is a breath of fresh air. I love that there’s barely any action. Instead, it’s all about an average guy using his business smarts and office skills to climb the ranks and get great benefits. It’s a relatable power fantasy for anyone who’s ever worked a 9-to-5!

5. Ishura

Brief Oerview:

The Demon King’s throne is empty, and this show is a full-blown battle royale where powerful characters from different worlds clash to claim it.

Why I Personally Love It:

I am a total sucker for epic action and large casts of overpowered characters. This anime feels like a high-stakes tournament arc stretched across two seasons, and I love every minute of it. The sheer scale and the fact that every fighter is a powerhouse with unique skills gets my adrenaline pumping. It’s pure, unadulterated chaos and I’m here for it.

6. No Longer Allowed In Another World

Brief Oerview:

This one has such a unique premise. A guy named Dazai dies and is isekai’d without his beloved. He’s so grief-stricken he just wants to die, but he can’t—because you’re not allowed to go to another world after you’re already in one.

Why I Personally Love It:

I’m a big fan of dark comedy, and this delivers. He seems weak with only 1 HP, but I love the twist that he’s immune to a poison that can kill anything. His desperate suicide attempts become a running gag, and the fact that he’s accompanied by a beautiful elf and a catgirl on this wild adventure just makes the whole package wonderfully bizarre.

7. Loner Life in Another World

Brief Oerview:

A whole class gets isekai’d, and the protagonist, Haruka, is stuck with all the bizarre, trash-tier skills no one else wanted.

Why I Personally Love It:

I love the irony in this one. Despite the “Loner” title, Haruka is almost never alone, which I find really funny. The best part for me is the twist: those garbage skills make him ridiculously overpowered. My favorite aspect is watching him try to be a background character while being forced to mediate between his fighting classmates and save the day.

8. Rift (A Chinese Donghua)

Brief Oerview:

This is a Chinese animation where rifts open up, connecting worlds and letting monsters through. Chosen heroes get powers to defend humanity at these breach points.

Why I Personally Love It:

I’ll be straight with you—the concept isn’t new. But as a donghua fan, I think this is a really solid entry that flies under the radar. My enjoyment of it hinged entirely on the protagonist. If you can connect with him, you’ll have a great time with this action-packed show. For me, he clicked, and I binged it!

9. The Adventure of a Average Guy Who Wants to Be a Gardener

Brief Oerview:

A guy on his way to a con gets isekai’d, fails a magic exam, and decides to become a gardener hunting for magical “fairy seeds.”

Why I Personally Love It:

I included this because sometimes I just want a generic, straightforward power fantasy, and this Chinese donghua does it well. The MC gets demon powers and becomes OP—it’s as simple as that. I appreciate it for being exactly what it says on the tin, no fuss, and it’s a fun, easy watch.

10. Failure Frame

Brief Oerview:

A class is summoned, but the MC is branded a useless E-rank and thrown into a dungeon to die by a ruthless goddess. There, he discovers his “useless” status-effect skills are actually brokenly powerful.

Why I Personally Love It:

This is my top recommendation for anyone, like me, who loves revenge stories like Arifureta. I was hooked from the moment he was betrayed. Watching him survive, level up by slaughtering everything, and then emerge from that hell with a burning desire for vengeance against the goddess and his classmates… it’s just so satisfying. The edge is delicious.

My Thoughts on the Most Underrated Isekai Anime

Isekai anime introduce viewers to a whole new fantasy world with possibilities of growth, power, fame, and much more. Typical Isekai follow a lone protagonist with some mysterious power, and he goes on quests, joins some guilds, and, well, becomes the much-needed hero.

Still, the anime mentioned above go and do something extra that caught my eye, and I listed them in this blog post. What do you think about them? Please be sure to send your feedback — it helps me improve my work. Till next time!
