Rimuru Tempest began his life as Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old corporate worker in Tokyo. After being fatally stabbed while protecting a colleague, he reincarnated into a fantasy world as a Unique Slime in the Cave of the Great Jura Forest. Upon awakening, he discovered he retained his human consciousness and gained unique abilities, including Predator (to devour and analyze targets) and Great Sage (an advanced AI-like skill for guidance).

Guys, I have watched numerous anime, I cannot even begin to count the numbers, but none of them matches Tensura when it comes to story, world building, and binge worthiness. May be I like this sort of story, or may be it is that GOOD.

Later, still in the cave where he reincarnated as a slime, his first significant encounter was with Veldora Tempest, a Catastrophe-level Storm Dragon sealed in the cave for 300 years. Rimuru formed a pact with Veldora, naming him and absorbing his magical energy to bypass the seal. In return, Veldora named him; not just named him but became a sworn brother. Rimuru promised to find a way to free Veldora from the seal cast by Chloe Aubert (we learn that in later arcs), forging a lifelong bond.

After leaving the cave, Rimuru encountered a tribe of starving goblins. What an encounter it was though! He helped them secure resources, named their leader Rigurd, and established the Jura Tempest Federation, a sanctuary for monsters. This marked the beginning of Rimuru’s rise as a leader and diplomat.

Powers and Abilities

Rimuru’s abilities evolve continuously, blending skills acquired through consumption, analysis, and evolution. The primary skill Great Sage allowed him to continuously monitor his growing skills, powers, number of magicules (mana), and assists him in various tasks, and threats coping. Later, all of his skills avolved greatly, and in the anime he is currently at a True Demon Lord level. In light novel/web novel he is currently at a Multiversal level, sitting above all beings in the Tensura world. let’s explore Rimuru’s anime skills:

Predator (Unique Skill):

• Absorbs targets to gain their attributes, skills, and memories. Like in the start he gets spider silk, cobra venom, and wolf’s houls/language etc. Additionally, he can mimic the sounds, body, and skills of the monstors he absorbs,
• Stores absorbed entities in a stomach-like subspace. He did the same with Veldora, except he stored him instead of absorbing him.

Great Sage (Ultimate Skill → Raphael):

• Advanced computational ability for skill analysis, synthesis, and strategy. This is rimuru’s ultimate skills, which also evolved.
• Evolves into Raphael, the King of Wisdom, enabling precise control over energy and skill optimization.

Mimicry:

Shapeshifting into any form or object, including humanoid bodies, weapons, or armor. He can mimic almost any being, later he used this ability to mimic Shizu after absorbing her body at her request. ALthough, he prefered a male version, and resembles Shizu.

Universal Sense:

Detects energy signatures, lifeforms, and threats within a radius of several kilometers. Universal sense allows him to detect threats, and plan a head of his enemies. He often use this skill, and a few times saved his life using this skill.

Ultimate Skills:

• Uriel: Spatial manipulation, barriers, and multi-layered defenses.
• Veldora’s Storm Magic: Controls wind, lightning, and destructive weather phenomena.
• Beelzebub: Energy absorption, matter disintegration, and teleportation.

Demon Lord Transformation:

• After evolving into a True Demon Lord, Rimuru gained a lot of skills, and his skills evolved into their ultimate forms. Although, later, he will further advance his skills when he evolve further.
• Harvest Lord Shub-Niggurath: Mass production of potions and resurrection of subordinates. The resurrection skill is a very uncommon skill, and so far I have not seen anyone else using this skill in the anime. May be this was a one time skill.
• Covenant King Uriel: Enhanced spatial domination and defense.

Soul Manipulation:

This happened once, and it was supposed to be the greatest skills of Rimuru in the anime series so far. He Resurrects allies (e.g., Shion) and creates spiritual clones.

Weaknesses

Rimuru Tempest although powerful, is no short of weaknesses. In anime before his promotion to a True Demon Lord, holy magic was his primary weakness. Hinata managed to almost kill him due to this weakness, and her overwhelming strength. Later, in the anime he obtained holy magic nullification when he became a True Demon lord. And defeated Hinata in a one on one battle. Although, he declared it a tie, to groom their relationship.

1. Reliance on Great Sage/Raphael: Strategic dependency on his analytical skill; without it, decision-making slows. But when he gives the Ai full control, his reflexes are on par with his thoughts.
2. Emotional Attachments: His loyalty to allies (e.g., Shion, Gobta) can be exploited. This is also his strength, he is surrounded by loyal followers who follow him due to their love, instead of fear.
3. Energy Consumption: High-tier skills like Megiddo drain immense magicules. Although, he sacrificed this skill, to obtains better skills during harvest festival (his evolution to True Demon Lord)
4. Pre-Evolution Vulnerabilities: Before becoming a Demon Lord, Rimuru lacked immunity to certain spiritual attacks.

Friends and Allies

Rimuru’s friends, and allies are great in number, and so are his enemies. He never abandons his friends, especially his own kin, and close allies like ogres, goblins, and Jura Tempests’ citizens. The same goes for Dwarfs, and his human friends.

• Veldora Tempest: The Storm Dragon, now a sworn brother and comic relief. His other half, and his main trumph card when he is in a life-threatening state. During Walpurgis when Milim was about to land a critical hit on him, Veldora stormed in a took the blow.
• Shion: Loyal ogre-turned-kijin, serves as Rimuru’s secretary and bodyguard. She loves him to the point of taking care of his everything.
• Benimaru: Fire ogre and military commander of Tempest’s army. One of the main large area damage dealers, and commanders of his armies.
• Shuna: Diplomat and master of enchantment magic; designs clothing and infrastructure. Clearly a hidden force to recon with. Her skills are no short of Benimaru, her brother.
• Diablo: Primordial Demon and Rimuru’s devout follower, handles covert operations. Black Noir, a primodial demon like Guy Crimson, is the most powerful retainer of Rimuru.
• Milim Nava: Dragonoid and fellow Demon Lord; shares a playful, sibling-like bond with Rimuru. She is another trump card of Rimuru, and is on par with her uncle Veldora up to some extend. Although, she is unreliable due to her think-late-do-first attitude.

Main Nemeses

Without enemies there is no good story. As the protagonist Rimuru has face powerful villains, and have yet to face the most powerful in the entire series.

1. Clayman: Manipulative Demon Lord who orchestrated attacks on Tempest. Outcome: Rimuru exposed his schemes and absorbed his soul. Although, he other gang, who are more powerful then him are have yet to show their moves.
2. Hinata Sakaguchi: Holy Knight of the Western Church who initially saw Rimuru as a threat. She almost killed him once due to a misunderstanding but presently she hold great respect for our boy.
3. Yuuki Kagurazaka: Otherworlder seeking chaos; mastermind behind the Eastern Empire invasion. He is one of the most powerful characters who have been playing in shadows until now. May be we will soon see him confronting Rimuru directly.
4. Eastern Empire: A human nation attempting to conquer Tempest. Rimuru crushed their forces single handedly, and became a True Demon Lord after absorbing their (10-20k) souls.

Major Fights

Ah the fights. The main thrill of watching Tensura, is its excellent fights. Rimuru has a great many skills at his disposal which have helped him overcome many foes, and battles.

Rimuru Vs. Orc Lord Geld:

Orc Lord Geld was initially an Orc King who wanted only a good place with food, and water for his kin. He was on the brink of death when Gelmud (a lacky of Clayman) gave him name, and powers. His primary purpose was to grow him into a demon lord, and control Jura Forest.

Ord Lord was defeated by Rimuru in a one on one battle. Although, Rimuru used every skill in his book but couldn’t overcome him. At the end of their fight Rimuru used his best skill Predator, and swallowed him, thus defeating Ord Lord Disaster. Please note Rimuru is the firt character who defeated a demon lord while not being a demon lord himself. He also gained the demon lord seed, which is needed to become a true demon lord.

Rimuru Vs. Charybdis:

Charydis was formed due to the dense magicules of Veldora. In a way you can call it his children. They are clamity level beings without a state of mind. When it attacked Tempest, Milim was the one to defeat it at the end. Naturally, the victory belonged to the ruler of Tempest.

Rimuru Vs. Demon Lord Clayman:

In anime, Clayman was a very cunning deathman, and a demon lord. He planned everything from the destruction of Tempest, killing of innocent from the beast kingdom, attack on Rimuru, and much more.

One of his primary goals was to harvest souls for his promotion to a True Demon Lord. In the end during Walpurgis, Rimuru killed him easily, securing his position as one of the eight demon lords. Rimuru also destroyed his armies, took his treasures, and enslaved his armies to rebuilt the beast kingdom’s destroyed situation.

Rimuru Vs. Hinata Sakaguchi:

Hinata is one of the most powerful humans in the slime verse. She almost killed Rimuru with he disintegration magic. Rimuru got away using his mimicry skills. Later, in the new season, she realized her mistakes, and came to apologize to Rimuru. However, Seven Clergy the true master minds behind most of the evil plots, made entry. Due to Rimuru’s intervention, along with Diablo’s planning they defeated them.

Hianata went on one-one-one with Rimuru (another misunderstading) but lost. Rimuru to give her face, declared that the match was a tie.

• Jura Tempest Federation: A monster nation advocating human-monster coexistence.
• Octagram: Council of Demon Lords, including Guy Crimson and Ramiris.
• Dwargon Kingdom: Dwarf allies providing technological and military support.
• Sorcerous Dynasty of Thalion: Collaborates on magical research.

Legacy: Rimuru Tempest redefines leadership in fantasy realms, balancing diplomacy, innovation, and unparalleled power. From slime to sovereign, his journey embodies growth, unity, and the strategic use of acquired abilities.

My Thoughts on Rimuru Tempest – Tensura – Reincarnated as a Slime

Tensura or That Time when I was Reincarnated as a Slime, is one of the most entertaining anime of this decade. And please make the name short. I don’t know why they name them so long. It is a name not a to do list for a Monday.

Rimuru Tempest is an interesting character with a kind heart, who gets reincarnated in a world of magic, demons, and dragons. A truly interesting plot with a lot of exploration, relationships, and power leveling. With his past life memories, he is building a lifestyle which is strange to local beings. Still, they love it, and Rimuru has a long way to go. Thoughts?
