The 13 Worst superpowers in the Marvel Universe

Ever wondered what are some of the worst superpowers in the Marvel Universe? Worst powers are still powers. In specific scenarios, they might come in handy. But overall, they are useless and often overlooked. Like Zeitgeist, who throws up acid — wonder when that is going to help? He melted his partner by mistake and often messed up situations during battles. In Deadpool, he dies upon landing! There are more to surprise you — let’s dig deeper!

Maggot

Folks, this one is interesting and way too weird. And I’m sure he’s weird for all of you as well. Get this — Maggot’s “superpowers” revolve around two slugs that eat for him. When they’re done eating, they re-enter his body (stomach). And I’m not going to go into how they re-enter his body.

After the slugs enter Maggot’s body, they boost his physicality temporarily. The slugs are even special, so they have names — Eenie and Meenie. Maggot is a hero appearing in Marvel’s X-Men comics. He possesses one of the most bizarre and useless powers in the whole Marvel Universe — even the multiverse.

Beak

Beak is another hero whose solo power is transformation into a bird-like form with hollow bones and non-functional wings. I mean, what’s the point of this superpower — or can we even call it a superpower? In short, his power is purely transformative, only changing his appearance. To make it worse, he becomes even weaker than his human form when his “superpower” is active. He also appears in Marvel’s X-Men.

Doorman

From the Marvel Universe, specifically in Great Lakes Avengers, Doorman’s powers have some significance. He can cast a Darkforce Dimension and allow people or other heroes to pass through him like a door. His powers and abilities have limitations, like he must be in contact with the surface where the “door” will form. This ability is easily outclassed by other villains or heroes who possess brute force or stealth. So yes, another contender for the worst superpowers in the Marvel Universe.

Big Bertha

She is another weird and almost useless ability wielder in the Marvel Universe. She can add mass and weight to her body and control its distribution. But the weird part is that she must vomit the added mass/weight in order to return to her original form. Big Bertha, from the Marvel Universe (Great Lakes Avengers), has some use for her powers due to her increase in size and strength — but the vomiting part is bizarre and problematic. Would you like to have this superpower? I guess not!

El Guapo

El Guapo is another contender for the worst superpowers in the Marvel Universe. His powers rely on his symbiotic connection with his skateboard. Now, if he could form this connection with other objects as well, I might have excluded him from this list. But get this — his symbiotic connection only works with a single skateboard. He appears in comics like Marvel’s X-Men and The Ecstatics and is often killed easily.

Peeper

Appearing in the Marvel Universe (X-Men, S.W.O.R.D.), Peeper is another holder of one of the worst superpowers. His only power is peeping. Yes — he can enlarge his eyes and enhance his eyesight. He can see what other heroes beside him cannot. Often useful during reconnaissance, he has no defensive or offensive abilities, making him extremely vulnerable.

Penance

Penance’s superpowers are highly impractical and self-destructive. He can release energy beams to attack, but only when he feels physical pain. After the Stamford tragedy, Speedball became Penance and was forced to wear a spiked iron suit to cause himself constant pain to activate his powers — making them highly impractical and self-destructive.

In short, he must hurt himself first to hurt others. He’s a hero from the Marvel Universe who is in constant pain during battle. Would you like this superpower?

Tag

Another worst superpower contender is Tag from the Marvel Universe (X-Men). He can “tag” anyone and manipulate them to run toward or away from a specific target within a 100-meter radius. His powers are limited due to the small distance. I mean, he’s still vulnerable to gun attacks or if multiple enemies attack him remotely or together. So yes — pretty much useless in most scenarios.

Gold Balls (Egg)

Mr. Egg, or Gold Balls, has a unique but still one of the worst superpowers in the Marvel Universe. He can create indestructible golden balls — and that’s it. No controlling them telekinetically or otherwise. His power is only useful when combined with the abilities of four other mutants to create a resurrection field; alone, the balls have no practical application. He appears in Marvel’s X-Men.

Skin

Another Marvel hero with another useless and bizarre power. He has an additional six feet of skin that he can manipulate and stretch. Other parts, like bones and muscles, remain the same. Even imagining it gives me the heebie-jeebies (King Julien reference).

Basically, he uses this power to entangle enemies or throw objects with a swing. He appears in Marvel’s X-Men comics and is considered to have one of the most depressing powers compared to other elastic superheroes.

Bailey Hoskins

Now, I wanted to save this one for last because it’s one of the most useless powers I’ve ever seen — the ability to die! He can self-destruct, and once he does, it’s fatal. That’s it — no regeneration, no extra life. Once he goes boom, he’s done for.

He appeared in the Marvel Universe’s X-Men, and his powers — or should I say solo power — are tragic and useless. He was featured in a series literally titled X-Men: Worst X-Man Ever.

Zeitgeist

I know you know this one — yes, the acid vomit guy from Deadpool. He can spew acidic vomit from his mouth, and that’s the extent of his powers. What makes this one of the worst superpowers in the Marvel Universe is that it’s extremely unfortunate and grotesque — it first manifested when he accidentally melted a girl’s face. In Deadpool, he damages his teammate’s arm by accidently melting it with his vomit, while Zeitgeist himself gets stuck in a mechanical blade and dies soon after.

Paste-Pot Pete (Trapster)

The last one is a villain appearing in Marvel comics, whose solo superpower is his glue gun. Paste-Pot Pete, or Trapster, fires adhesive liquid that glues heroes and enemies to the ground or objects, thus trapping them. However, this “super glue” isn’t so super against supes with real abilities. He’s often defeated easily by Human Torch, and his “unbeatable super weapon” is considered laughable.

My Input

As a huge Marvel Comics fan, I often see heroes and villains with bizarre and weird superpowers, but this list goes to another level of bad superpowers. I mean, if they’re meant for comic relief, then maybe—just maybe—it’s acceptable. But still, fans enjoy the stories. What’s your input on this list? Did I miss anyone from the Marvel Universe who has even worse superpowers?
