🌟 Monkey D. Luffy (Captain)

He is the main protagonist of the One Piece created by Eiichiro Oda. With no parents around he was raised and trained by his grandfather Garp. He wanted him to become a marine like him but he choose the path of freedom by being a pirate. Shanks was the main influence one him which motivated him to become like Shanks.

⚔️ Roronoa Zoro (Combatant/First Mate)

A sword fanatic and the right hand man of Monkey D. Luffy. Sword is his life and each fight brings him closer to his goal of becoming the strongest swordsman in the world. Fought Mihawk but lost and later trained by him during the time-skip.

Zoro lost his childhood rival Shimotsuki Kuina who was the daughter of his dojo instructor. She also had the same dream as him. Later, the instructor gave him Kuina’s sword which he cherishes until this day. Also, he vowed to carry her dream as well. To become the storngest swordsman in the One Piece world.

🔫 Usopp (Sniper)

Clearly the most ‘feared’ and ‘the bravest’ captain of the seas is none other than Usopp. Or some might know him as god Usopp. He is a pretty decent sniper though. Recently, he awakened observation haki and I believe he will be one of the best snipers in the series. He is the son of Yasopp, a key member of Red Hair Pirates. Soon. we may witmess their reunion in Elbaf. Did you know that he is the only one among Straw Hat crew to challenge Luffy for the position of captain? It was because of Usoop’s deep conection to Going Merry – strawhats first ship.

  • Abilities: God-tier accuracy; Pop Greens & Haki blooms.

  • Nemesis: Sugar, Van Augur.

  • Major Fight: Victory vs. Sugar (Dressrosa).

🧑‍🍳 Sanji (Chef)

Perhaps the coolest fighter in the crew is none other than Black Leg Sanji. And so far he is the best known chef in the series. He is a love thristy man. When he was stranded with his father figure, and a great pirate chef Zeff – the Zeff’s sacrifice of the food to feed the young Sanji was simply out of this world. Oda nailed it at that! Let’s see his abilities now!

🦌 Tony Tony Chopper (Doctor)

The innocent and cute Tony Tony Chopper is on the way to becoming the greatest doctor in the One Piece universe. And with his expertise it seems like he’ll become one. And despite his low bounty he is a pretty decnt threat on any battlefield. Despite being a rain deer at first, he did not do well in the nothern wilds. Somehow, he consumed the human-human fruit and gained human intellect along with numerous transformations. His power leveling is not over yet, he will grow stronger.

  • Nemesis: Caesar Clown, Queen.

🔮 Nico Robin (Archaeologist)

With tragic past she keeps a seldom-seen smile on her face. She is one of the strongest characters in the One Piece if you take into account her mental powers, reputation, and of course heart. Her back story is tragic, and filled with sad memories. Her home Ohara, was destroyed by the Navy as they were looking into the void century – a major One Piece Secret. She was the only survivor, and had a huge bounty on her head since childhood.

He is always in his underwear yet he is firiously loyal to his beliefs of being a man. His fight with the Senor Pink was legendary and emotional at the same time.

  • Origin: Water 7 cyborg.

  • Abilities: Radical Beam weapons; General Franky mecha.

  • Nemesis: CP-9, Senor Pink.

  • Major Fight: Toppled Señor Pink (Dressrosa).

🎻 Brook (Musician)

Perhaps the best musician in the entire One Piece series. His unyielding love for his lost crewmates some eigthy years ago along with their promice with Laboon is a proof of his greater loyality. What impressed me most was Laboon, who was waiting for the Brook’s crew while bashing her head with the Red Line (seperating rest of the seas from the Grand Line and New World).

  • Abilities: Yomi Yomi no Mi (soul powers); Ice swordsman.

  • Nemesis: Big Mom, Ryuma.

  • Major Fight: Stole Poneglyph rubbing (Whole Cake Island).

🌊 Jinbei (Helmsman)

The First Son of the Sea and a major powerhouse of the Strawhat crew is Jinbei. He is the latest addition in the strawhat’s crew, and joined them during the Wano arc when they were heading against Kaido. He is the prime of loyality and never backs down from a fight. Having a fishman in any pirate crew is a huge plus. And when you have the best of them all, your power level surges dramatically. Moreover, Jinbei excels in the secret art of Fish-Man Karate – easily destroying huge ships, and using the sea as his weapon. If sea hates devil fruit powers then it must love Fish-Man Karate.

  • Origin: Sun Pirate captain (Fish-Man Island).

  • Abilities: Fish-Man Karate; Master Armament Haki.

When does Jinbei join the Straw Hats? Officially in Wano (Chapter 976), though he pledged loyalty earlier.

🌍 Major Adventures & Events

The Straw Hat Pirates turn chaos into legend:

  • Enies Lobby: Declared war on the World Government to save Robin. It was a show of unyieding resoleve and a seer show of loyality.

  • Marineford: Failed to save Ace; led to 2-year training timeskip (and the rise of the Fake Straw Hats!). So far, Marineford War is the largest battle arc in the One Piece anime and manga.

  • Dressrosa: Took down Doflamingo; Usopp unlocked Haki and got the title of the god Usopp. The fight of Luffy Vs Dofamingo is one of the best fights in the series.

  • Whole Cake Island: Rescued Sanji; straw hat pirates bounty spikes. It was a fantastic arc and was one of teh turning points to the influence of the strawhats.

  • Wano: Toppled Kaido; crew bounties soared over 8.8 billion total.

My Thoughts on Strawhats and One Piece

Where do I start? One Piece is the result of one-in-a-million fantastic thoughts by Oda. As a matter of fact, its vast world, the concept of powers, the corrupt government, and the entire political scenario are simply awesome.

One word — Freedom — describes the true intent of One Piece. I know we all wonder: What is the One Piece? And Oda has said that he will reward the fans with something worthwhile. It’s only natural that he comes up with something so amazing and jaw-dropping that fans like us feel completely satisfied. YEAH, IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!!

I think One Piece will have something to do with freedom — as we see in the world where the Straw Hat Pirates roam in search of their dreams. Ultimately, it all comes down to being able to do what they wish. And so far, we’ve seen that in the One Piece series, the actions of the World Government, powerful pirates, etc., point to the suppression of people’s freedom.

Now, about Monkey D. Luffy and his band of misfits — I couldn’t have told the story better myself, even after reading or watching it a hundred times.

BUT one thing that gives me a headache and a whole lot of frustration — and I’m sure you’ll agree with me — is that the story moves way, way, way too slow. In the anime, an episode is only 12 to 16 minutes long, and most of that time is taken up by scenes from the last episode. I think they should take a break and release a batch of episodes with better pacing and animation.

Trying to make more episodes by boring the hell out of the audience is not a good move. I know it airs all year round, which is supposedly a unique thing for One Piece, but it’s totally not worth my time when the story moves at a snail’s pace and more than half the episode consists of the OST (opening song or intro), the outro (ending), and scenes from previous episodes.

A better approach would be to release only what you can manage — without forcefully stretching out the episodes.
