Bleach TYBW The Calamity: Everything You Need to Know Before It Airs

After years of waiting, the Bleach anime is finally wrapping up. Bleach TYBW The Calamity is the last piece of the puzzle — the fourth and final cour of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc — and it’s arriving in July 2026. If you’ve been following since Part 1 back in 2022, this is the one you’ve been holding out for.

Here’s everything you need to know before it drops.

What Is Bleach TYBW The Calamity?

The Calamity (known in Japanese as Kashintan) is the official title for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 4. It picks up from where Part 3 left off and takes the story to its conclusion — the final confrontation between Ichigo Kurosaki and Yhwach, the Quincy King who’s essentially rewritten reality using his ability called The Almighty.

The title was revealed at Jump Festa 2026 in December 2025, alongside a trailer and key visual featuring Ichigo, Uryu, Orihime, and Chad. The tagline — “To those once called calamities” — was suggested by Tite Kubo himself, which tells you this cour carries personal weight for him.

When Does It Release?

The Calamity officially premieres on TV Tokyo in July 2026. Before that, U.S. fans get a theatrical event running from June 25 to June 29, 2026, featuring the first three episodes on the big screen along with exclusive interviews with Tite Kubo.

If you’re planning to watch it on streaming, it’ll follow shortly after the TV broadcast. The theatrical window is limited, so check local listings if you want that experience.

What’s the Story at This Point?

To catch you up without getting too deep into spoilers: the Soul Society has been through absolute chaos. Yhwach and his Sternritter have invaded twice, taken out a significant number of Soul Reapers, and Yhwach himself has grown into something close to a god-level threat after absorbing the Soul King.

Uryu Ishida — Ichigo’s closest friend and the last Quincy — is now fighting alongside Yhwach, which has been one of the arc’s most talked-about plot threads. The Calamity is expected to resolve that conflict and bring Ichigo’s full-powered final fight to screen.

Part 3’s finale was a special one-hour episode that covered the Jugram vs. Uryu confrontation, setting up a clear path for the endgame. The Calamity takes it from there.

What to Expect From The Calamity

Studio Pierrot and director Hikaru Murata have been putting serious effort into this adaptation. Tite Kubo has been directly involved throughout the TYBW anime, pushing for better animation and expanded scenes that the original anime run didn’t have. When director Murata was asked to describe the final cour in one word, he said: “Bankai.”

That’s about as clear a signal as you’re going to get.

The Bleach TYBW Thousand-Year Blood War Part 4 is also going through a broader lookback project — NTV has been releasing remastered episodes from the original series on YouTube, working chronologically back up to the TYBW arc. It’s a large-scale effort to bring both longtime fans and newcomers up to speed before the finale airs.

Is It Worth Watching If You Dropped Bleach Years Ago?

Honestly, yes — if you ever had any interest in the series. The TYBW arc is widely considered the best-animated portion of Bleach, and Studio Pierrot has visibly put more care into it than most of the original run. The fights are cleaner, the pacing is tighter, and Kubo’s involvement means the story gets the treatment it deserved the first time around.

You’d want to at least watch Parts 1 through 3 first, but the theatrical event on June 25 is a good motivator to finally get caught up.
