Top 10 Strongest Shonen Anime Characters as of 2026 (Updated with New Seasons)

Hey everyone, welcome back to Abilities Hub.

Power scaling conversations never really slow down, especially when new seasons keep dropping. It’s April 2026 and quite a few big shonen titles have moved forward with fresh episodes or chapters, so I sat down and updated my ranking of the strongest shonen anime characters right now.

This list is based on what we’ve actually seen on screen or in the latest manga chapters — raw power, speed, durability, hax, and battle experience all factored in. It’s still subjective (these things always are), but I tried to keep it straightforward and fair.

Here’s the current top 10.

10. Izuku Midoriya (Deku) – My Hero Academia

Deku has come a long way since the early days. Combining all the previous One For All users’ quirks gives him huge versatility and power output. He’s a complete fighter now, though he still has some physical limits compared to the absolute top tiers. Right now the main anime run wrapped up late last year with Season 8, but we’re getting one final special episode in May 2026 that adapts the epilogue chapter and shows what life looks like after the big war. The manga has been complete for a while, so Deku’s goal of becoming the greatest hero has pretty much reached its natural end — the time-skip gives us a quiet, satisfying look at how he’s moving forward.

9. Arthur Boyle – Fire Force

The final season has been kind to Arthur. His plasma sword and imagination-driven abilities have grown a lot. He’s creative in battle and his growth feels natural within the story. The Fire Force anime officially ended just a week ago on April 3 with the Season 3 finale, and it fully adapted the manga, which wrapped up years earlier. Arthur’s dream of becoming a true knight has been fulfilled in the final arc, and with the whole series now complete, his story feels nicely closed.

8. Asta – Black Clover

Anti-magic is still one of the best counters in shonen. Add his devil union form and massive physical stats, and Asta becomes extremely hard to deal with in most matchups. The manga just entered its super climax and is heading toward the ending — the next chapters drop in May and the finale is expected sometime in the next couple of months. A new anime season is also confirmed for later in 2026. Asta’s goal of becoming the Wizard King is right at the finish line now; after everything he’s been through, it feels like we’re finally watching that dream come true.

7. Ichigo Kurosaki – Bleach

The Thousand-Year Blood War arc reminded everyone how strong Ichigo really is. His hybrid powers and true Bankai put him comfortably in the upper half of any serious ranking. The Bleach anime is still going — the final part of Thousand-Year Blood War (called “The Calamity”) is scheduled for July 2026. The manga has been finished for years, so once this cour airs we’ll finally have the complete animated story. Ichigo’s goal of protecting his friends and the world has been tested to the limit, and the ending is shaping up to give him the closure he deserves.

6. Monkey D. Luffy – One Piece

Gear 5 and the awakened fruit have opened up wild possibilities. Luffy’s creativity, endurance, and Haki make him a nightmare opponent even for characters with higher raw stats. We’re deep into the Final Saga right now — the anime just returned in April with the Elbaf Arc, and the manga is at Chapter 1179 with no signs of ending anytime soon. Luffy’s dream of becoming Pirate King is closer than ever, but there’s still a long road ahead and plenty of huge battles left. Strawhats are in full swing!!!

5. Yuji Itadori – Jujutsu Kaisen

Season 3 has shown how far Yuji has come. His new techniques and sheer determination put him right in the conversation with the elite. The manga has been complete since 2024 and Season 3 just wrapped up its first part in late March 2026 (with Season 4 expected in 2027). Yuji’s goal of saving people and giving others a proper death has evolved a lot — he’s grown into someone who carries the weight of the whole jujutsu world on his shoulders.

4. Satoru Gojo – Jujutsu Kaisen

Infinity plus the Six Eyes is still one of the most broken kits in modern shonen. Gojo’s presence alone changes how fights play out. Same story as Yuji — manga done, Season 3 recently ended, Season 4 on the way in 2027. Gojo’s goals have always been about protecting the next generation and changing the corrupt system; the ending arcs gave him a chance to do exactly that, even if it came at a heavy personal cost.

3. Naruto Uzumaki – Naruto / Boruto

Even years later, Naruto’s Six Paths power, massive chakra reserves, and experience keep him near the very top. The Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga is ongoing and the anime Part 2 is expected sometime in late 2026 or 2027. Naruto’s original goal of becoming Hokage was achieved long ago, but now he’s in a new chapter where he’s more of a mentor figure while still stepping up when the world needs him most.

2. Saitama – One Punch Man

The latest season reinforced what we already knew: Saitama operates on a completely different level when it comes to pure physical strength. He’s calm, almost bored, but undeniably dominant. The manga is still releasing new chapters (we’re around Chapter 225 now) with no ending in sight yet. Saitama’s personal goal is still the same simple one — to find a fight that actually challenges him — and the story keeps teasing that he might finally get what he’s been looking for.

1. Son Goku – Dragon Ball

In 2026 Goku still sits at the top for most scaling discussions. Constant training, new forms, and unmatched destructive potential keep him ahead in the conversation. The Dragon Ball Super manga is currently on hiatus, but new anime projects (including a remake series) are coming later this year. Goku’s goal has always been to get stronger and protect his friends and family — no matter how many times the universe throws bigger threats at him, he just keeps training and smiling through it all.
