If you haven’t heard of Marriagetoxin anime 2026 yet, you’re about to. As of this week, it’s sitting at the top of the Anime Trending charts — the #1 most-voted anime in the Spring 2026 season. That’s not a small achievement considering the company it’s keeping right now. So what exactly is it, and why has it taken off so fast?
Here’s everything — release dates, episode count, story details, and what makes it worth your time.

ToggleWhat Is Marriagetoxin?
Marriagetoxin is based on a manga by Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda — a series that’s sold over 1 million copies worldwide. The anime adaptation is produced by BONES Film (the studio behind My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and directed by Motonobu Hori, with scripts by Kimiko Ueno. The combination of source material fans and a trusted studio behind it explains a lot of the early excitement.
The story follows Hikaru Gero, heir to the Gero Clan — one of the Five Great Families of assassins who operate in Japan’s criminal underworld. Gero is lethal with poison. Social skills? Nearly zero. When pressure from his sister forces him to find a bride and produce an heir, he turns to the only person he can think of: Mei Kinosaki, a professional marriage swindler who claims she can make anyone fall in love within 30 seconds.
It’s a shonen action series wrapped around a romantic comedy, and it genuinely works.

Release Date and Episode Schedule
The first episode of Marriagetoxin aired on April 7, 2026, on Fuji TV and Kansai TV in Japan as part of the “Ka-Anival!!” programming block. It airs weekly every Tuesday at 11:00 PM JST. For international viewers, Crunchyroll simulcasts it at 10:30 AM EST / 7:30 AM PT every Tuesday.
The season has a confirmed total of 13 episodes, running from April through the end of June 2026. As of the writing of this post, Episode 9 — titled “The Animal Kingdom” — dropped on June 2, 2026. That leaves four more episodes before the season wraps.
What’s Happening in the Story Right Now
The current arc has Gero and his companions storming the Beast Clan’s territory, the Dogo Animal Kingdom, to save the life of a character named Arashiyama. The Beast Clan’s fourteenth son, Toshiro Dogo, is claiming he wants to “usher in a new era” — which is never a good sign from a villain. Episode 9 ends with the group split and a major message delivered to Gero through an unlikely channel.
It’s the kind of escalation that makes episode finales land hard.
What Makes It Different
The premise sounds chaotic on paper, but Marriagetoxin earns its emotional beats. Gero’s motivation for marriage isn’t romance — it’s about protecting his sister’s freedom. Mei isn’t just comic relief — she’s a full character with her own vulnerabilities. The show uses its absurd underworld setting to explore what love actually looks like when you’ve never been taught it.
The action sequences are BONES quality, which means they’re fluid, expressive, and character-driven. If you enjoy series that blend genre conventions without feeling cheap about it, this is worth jumping on before it’s finished.
Where to Watch
- Crunchyroll — subtitled, every Tuesday at 10:30 AM EST (available in most regions globally)
- Fuji TV / Kansai TV — Japanese broadcast, Tuesdays at 11:00 PM JST
The English dub has not been confirmed yet for the simulcast, but subbed episodes are current.
Should You Watch It?
If you like shonen anime that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still delivers on action and character work, Marriagetoxin is one of the better new series of 2026. It’s not trying to reinvent anything — it’s just executing a fun premise with good production values. With 4 episodes left in Season 1 and the story heading into its final arc, now is the right time to binge up to Episode 9.
